Trek Cuc Phuong - Vietnam's first national park was established on July 7th 1962. It is located 120 km South West of Hanoi on the land area of 22.200 ha, among three provinces: Ninh Binh, Hoa binh and Thanh hoa. Cuc Phuong is a primary - tropical rain forest. Three - forth of land area is limestone mountains so flora and fauna in Cuc Phuong is very rich, diverse and unique (1983 species of vascular plants, 97 species of aminal, more than 300 species of birds, 36 species reptiles, 17 species of amphibians, 11 species of fishes and thousands of species of insects), many of them are listed in the Vietnam Red Book. In Cucphuong there are many huge and beautiful caves, there contain vestiges of prehistoric man, which are between 7000 - 12000 years old. Recently, a fossil of a sea animal was discovered, it lived about 200-250 million years ago.
Cucphuong is home to Muong ethnic minority with their own culture so it is also cultural heritage of Vietnam. Every year there are more than 40 thousand Vietnamese and foreign visitors come to Cucphuong, especially, the leaders Vietnam Government and Communist Party come to Cucphuong too such as Pham Van Dong - Prime Minister, Le Kha Phieu - General Secretary, Nong Duc Manh - President of National Assembly and Tran Duc Luong - President of Vietnam etc ... We are very proud of Cucphuong nature.
Cuc Phuong is where the Endangered Primates Rescue Centre is located; the Center rescues the animals from illegal trading. Cuc Phuong National Park is also a main attraction for botanists. Researched done by United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Flora and Fauna International (FFI) distinguished the complexity of the tropical forest and the monsoon influence on Southeast Asia in Cuc Phuong National Park.
Cuc Phuong National Park, sceneryAt the park's surroundings you will see limestone cliffs, plenty of plants and mammals. The summit May Bac (silver cloud) is 656 meters in elevation. The limestone caves in the park are eminent attractions and include Thang Khuyet Cave , Con Moong Cave , Pho Ma Cave, and Nguoi Xua Cave . Quen Voi Cave presents diverse aspects of the limestone after its long-term weathering process. The best time to visit the park is during the dry season from April to November.
